I can tell you within a year +/- when your shotgun was made if you post pictures of the left and right sides of the receiver or you let me know what the serial number is (approximate is fine). In 1940 the 520 was replaced by the flat-top 520A. However, they kept making the store brand 520s until 1939, with continual evolutionary improvements. They stopped selling the 520 under the Stevens name in 1928 when the new flagship 620 was introduced and sold it under the Riverside Arms trade name until 1932 when they discontinued it. Stevens introduced the store brand Sears Ranger and Wards Western Field shotguns in 1925. The store brand guns (Sears, Wards, Spiegel (620)) are exactly the same in quality as the guns Stevens sold under their own name (and their Riverside Arms trade name).ĭepending on when it was made, your shotgun may be slightly different parts wise from Model 520s bearing the Stevens name because of the following: ![]()
